What We Do
Project Princess is a non-profit organization that provides high school girls in the Austin area an opportunity to attend their prom by relieving some of the costly expenses at our Boutique Day in the Spring. On this special weekend, each girl is paired with their own personal shopper and given the chance to select a dress, pair of shoes, and accessories for her special night. We also provide several other services such as make-up suggestions, a goodie bag with donations from the Austin community, and a memory picture to remember this special day. Every year we raise money through projects such as our Project Princess Benefit Concert, and Rowing Dock, in order to host our major event, Boutique Day.
As we prepare for Boutique Day , we host multiple events each year to raise money to put on Boutique Day, as well as cover costs such as materials, maintenance, and storage unit costs. These events are used not only to encourage the public to support and become involved with Project Princess, but also to introduce potential Texas Lonestars members to Project Princess and its mission. One of our favorite events is our semesterly bracelet making social, where Lonestars and Potential New Members come together to create bracelets that are then collected to be handed out as a keepsake to each attendee of Boutique Day. Previously, we have also made greeting cards for every attendee to take home with them.
At Project Princess, we aim to be as accessible and inclusive as possible. We believe nobody should be worried or unable to have their dream prom experience, and dream of a world where nobody has to worry about money in order to have a memorable night.
Our Events
Boutique Day
Boutique Day is Project Princess’ annual pop-up prom boutique event, where we provide a dress, shoes and accessories to complete a personal prom look for each and every attendee. Throughout this shopping experience, prom-goers will work with their very own personal shopper (a Texas Lonestar) to pick everything out, all with no cost to the attendee! Additionally, we offer makeup and hairdos to help each attendee fully visualize their look for their big day! Historically, we have hosted raffles for attendees including gift certificates for prom dinners, updos, nail appointments and more. In past raffles we have offered the chance to win funding for a prom ticket, which can be unaffordable for many. Everything given out during Boutique Day is entirely funded through donations from citizens and businesses of Austin and surrounding areas. We strive to present a collection of modern, well-kept dresses in all shapes and sizes during this event. Each year, we host this event on or near the University of Texas campus.
Lonestarpalooza
Lonestarpalooza, formerly known as the Project Princess Benefit Concert, is our annual live music fundraiser we have hosted since 2007. Inspired by the spirit of music festivals, Lonestarpalooza brings together local Austin bands and performers to raise funds and collect donations for Project Princess. Lonestarpalooza is open to any who wish to attend, and all proceeds benefit Project Princess.
Rowing Dock
Rowing Dock, our annual fundraiser in collaboration with the Austin Rowing Dock, offers a peaceful day of lakeside enjoyment each fall. Open to all, 100% of ticket sales directly benefit Project Princess, creating a positive impact in our community. Attendees can rent their preferred equipment and set out on the lake. Plus, we often offer raffles and delightful surprises.
Profit Shares
From sipping coffee at cozy cafes to indulging in delectable desserts and dining at your go-to restaurants, our profit shares are one of the most popular ways to support Project Princess. One of our favorites has been our partnership with Kendra Scott, with whom we have giveback events regularly. View our calendar to learn about upcoming profit shares!
